HOW DO WE COPE IN THIS CHAOTIC WORLD?
We all experience hardships and stress, and we are all very well-acquainted with that emptiness that forms in our stomach when nervousness takes hold. Many of us are feeling that emptiness as we process what is going on around us locally and internationally via news or through social media. But we are not to be anxious about these things. Feeling anxious makes it harder to stop feeling anxious.
Philippians 4:6-7 Becarefull for nothing!
Confidence is hard to come by these days. People are losing their jobs, their houses, their cars and their life savings at an unprecedented rate. Confidence and patience are needed in the face of all these and restoration, protection and solution will come.
Hebrews 10:35-37
Violence, tragedies, accidents, coup, shooting, and terrorist attacks seem to keep mounting. How do we deal with the resulting fear and anxiety? The only sure answer to this is Jesus. He says;
John 14:1-3
Major events, such as war, a terrorist attack, domestic shootings, diseases outbreak or natural disaster are often exceeding what our capacity can handle psychologically and all this build up as a cumulative stress that erodes our sense of safety which leads to mental and emotional disorder.
We ought to know that this thing will always be, so we don’t have to panic, they are just the beginning of sorrow.
Matthew 24:6-8
What about spiritual warfare? This is a war that we cannot see but is there. This is a war you fight from the cradle to the grave. This is a war we must win. And this war though unseen controls all other wars in our life. All the physical things happening around us are being controlled by the spiritual things.
There is war in the heavenlies, between angels of darkness and angels of light. There is war on earth between the children of darkness and the children of light, between demons and children of light. There is cosmic war which is energetic and sensual in nature. In all these wars, only Jesus can guarantee through victory. Because he overcame.
John 16:33
To cope in this chaotic world, we need to know some basic things that will keep us stand as the battle’s rages.
1 KNOW THAT THE BATTLE IS THE LORDS
First thing first know that the battles is the Lord. We are not a match to our enemies on our own.
David told Goliath that the battle is the Lord’s and it was so.
1 Samuel 17:47
Jehoshaphat was surrounded by three great nations, but he seek the face of the Lord and proclaim a fast. The lord turn the battles around the enemy destroyed themselves.
2 Chronicles 20:15
Just keep the faith and don’t be afraid, praise him if you can, be still if you can’t praise, just know he is in control.
2 Chronicles 20:17 , Exodus 14:13
2 FREE YOURSELF OF LOADS SO YOU CAN FOCUS
There are things that we love to do but are not good for our spiritual life or healthy to our emotions. We have to let go so we can move easily.
2 Timothy 2:4-5
3 GET YOUR STRENGHT BACK ALWAYS
Strength is so important in this journey. Your enemy fight against you with different forms of energy. They use cosmic energy, energy from the sun, moon and stars. They use elemental energy (Earth, wind, water and fire). Electric, electronic, technology, and every form of transportations. Your only source of energy is the Holy Spirit. Note that all those energies are finite, they can neither be recreated or destroyed but can only be transform. But the energy from God is infinite.
You get your strength back through;
1. Fasting: Fasting is waiting on the Lord and when you wait on the Lord you are building your spiritual energy.
Isaiah 40:28-31 , Psalm 27:13-14 (KJV)
2. Rejoice in the Lord always: Though is difficult but the joy of the Lord is your strength,
Rejoicing in adversity is difficult but is a great weapon to renew your strength.
Nehemiah 8:10 (KJV), Philippians 4:4 (KJV)
Habakkuk said even if there is nothing left anymore, I will rejoice for there lie my strength.
Habakkuk 3:17-19
4 ALWAYS LOOK UP
Psalm 121:1-2
One of the principal organs in the body is the eye. God has given them to us to see but where we look and what we see have a great impact on our life
Where are you looking at for help today?
David in psalm 121 decided to look up. Because he believed that is where help can come from.
There are four other places we can look to for solutions, but the end thereof is not good.
1 Look back
If you look back you will see your life of the past, your successes as well as your failure. This is your Egypt that you left behind. What you’d see is pharaoh with his chariot pursuing you. You see your past mistakes, missed opportunity. failure and disappointment and they begin to hunt you. What you get is anxiety, depression, regret and disappointment. If you look back you will also remember the offences and hurt of the past and a fresh surge of bitterness, hatred and vengefulness would rise up in you.
The word of God says in
Isaiah 43:18-19
Don’t dwell in the past, God said keep moving on. A true Christian don’t look back.
Luke 9:62
Lot’s wife looks back and she became a pillar of salt.
Genesis 19:26
2 Looking forward
If you look forward to the future, what you will see are problems. You do see goliath, red sea and walls of Jericho. A preoccupation with the future leads to anxieties and fears. Jesus advises us not to worry about tomorrow either.
Matthew 6:34
When we say have faith or be hopeful. We mean have faith in God
3 Look around
If you look around, you will see the storms of life, natural and unnatural disasters, man’s inhumanity to man, wars, economic difficulties, epidemics, pandemics and terrorist attacks. What you’d get is discouragement and fear.
Do you remember what happened to peter on the sea when he shifted his gaze from Jesus to look at the storms? He started to sink, and terror seized him.
Matthew 14:29-31
Looking at parents, siblings, friends and relations for help is all foolish things to do, seek God first he can use anybody to help you.
Micah 7:5-6
4 Looking down
This is where the devil wants you to at in the first place, he wants to keep you suppressed. If you look down, what do you see? The ground. Remember, the ground has been cursed due to the sin of Adam and Eve. So, what you’d see is fruitless toil, failure, stagnation and lack of progress.
Of course, if you look down well, you’d also see Satan the devil, because that is where he belongs, he is supposed to be under our feet.
Isaiah 14:15 (
If you now look to him, he will give you what he has, lies, deception, counterfeit miracles, short-changing and more.
Looking down also symbolizes defeat, resignation, or shame. Do not look down, your help cannot come from there.
5 Look up
No matter what is happening my brethren, keep your heads up. That is where your help can come from.
Hebrews 12:2
No matter what you are passing through always look up. Keep your head up.
5 STAND
Finally, as a Christian we must stand and maintain out standing in the Lord.
Ephesians 6:10-18
What is happening in the world now is not a surprise, it has been predicted, even Jesus told his disciple about what will happen to them.
So, stand by trusting in the Lord and not what is happening around you and you will not be moved.
Psalm 125:1-2
Jesus, also talks about what the world will become before the end come.
But you just have to endure till the end, because they will want to force you to change your mind.

Strive to maintain your stand till the end.

John 17:5-26
Verse 15-17 is very crucial for us, use them as a daily prayer.
John 17:15-17 (KJV)
15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
